Well,  here is a write up on our 8th tournament.  We had a total of 21 entries, 3 no shows upon starting.  We didn’t get started until about 8:25 and I applogize to everyone for that.  A few changes were increased blind levels, and we started with 2,500 chips instead of 2,000.  I think it went quick, yet fair.

I can only write in my own perspective but here it goes.  Night started off fairly good for me.  Got KK early and won a bit.  Had a few AKs and AJs for some nice pots.  Most paid off.  I even hit my first pocket pair set. Usually it takes about 8 pocket pairs before I get a set! My girlfriend’s brother in law came for a first time playing poker.  He was the first out but was a great sport about it.  Kept a smile on his face, and stayed the entire tournament.  We decided to wait until 18 players were left before merging the 3 tables to 2.  Once that happened, we merged and I went back to playing slow.  I was up pretty high but then lost 3 hands in a row.  I was now the short stack.  I stayed calm and was able to double up on AJ holding as high card.  Finally, the tables merged, which was a life saver, as the blinds going around 6 handed was to quick for me to keep folding.  Once we merged, we had the addon.  We normally do 4,000 chips for 15$.  8 People did an addon of the remaining 10.

Once I had more chips to play with I felt better.  One of the first few hands I got JJ.  Now, I was already worried that the hand before that, the guy to my right had JJ and went out to AK.  So I call, and 3 players later we get a raise.  I go all-in and he calls.  Wouldn’t you know, AK vs JJ.  This time it holds!  I win the pot and double up to a near 10,000chips.  Time goes on an im in Vs Justine, the only female player tonight, who is short stacked.  Flops J94 and I have J6.  I all in, she calls with J10.  Turn was a 6 and I had a suck out for another 3,500~ chips.  my next big hand was 10-2 Clubs vs the chip leader.  He raised 4,000 to the left of the button and I was the BB.  I call.  Flops and he bets 3,000, I call.  Turn was a 5 which made a 1 card straight draw.  He checks, I all in.  Sweating bullets, he folds, and I take down the pot and show nothing.  Whew.  I was killing and I knew it.  I just needed to let everyone knock each other out.  Folded some major hands.  I threw JJ down pre-flop.  AQo pre-flop.  I was just milking the blinds.  Eventually the bubble bursted with 5 players, 5th getting 40$.  Which is your money back if you did the addon.  I cant remember everything that happened.  Few people were nocked and it was Rob vs Rob vs Bean (me).  I knocked Rob out with an over-card and then it was heads up.  Normally we chop, but in the last 2 weeks i’ve played well over 200 heads up FTP sit-n-gos.  I decided to play out.  After 3 hands, i lost the chip lead.  I was able to win a hand to have him with no chips, only for him to get 99 and double up on me.  I was still in the lead though.  I was give 45 of Diamonds.  I call his raise and it flops 36J of diamonds.  He raises 12,000 and I rr all in.  He calls and shows 65, mid pair.  I show my flush and I knew I won.  Once the turn came he was drawing dead and then the river sealed the deal with a 2 of Diamonds for a Straight Flush.  What a way to end the night.

Payouts were :

5th : 40$ – Boye

4th: 80$ – Sammy

3rd : 120$ – Rob B.

2nd : 200$ – Rob S.

1st : 360$ – Bean

Next event has been listed.  Hope to see you there!

2009      Jul 6

Friday’s night cash game was a good success.  We had about 8 people sitting at the table from about 8pm till about midnight.  Lot of big pots, probably the biggest was around 70-80$.  We had two huge winners, one was a new recruit.  He did well for himself, played very calm and only at the right time.  He took a small hit to his stack before he cashed out for around $80.  As for the other man, Tiny, he bought in for 20$ and quickly turned his money to a profit.  He showed up around 10:30 and when he left at 12:30 he was up to about 130$.  Overall, some left a couple bucks down, some left a couple bucks up.  A thank you to everyone for your tips and prompt arrival.

Now, onto our upcoming tournament.  This game will start at 8Pm on Friday, July 17th.  It may or may not be a re-buy tournament.  We will decide the night of.  Payouts will be as normal, up to 9 players, 60/25/15 and if more we will pay 4th.  Any questions or concerns feel free to email me!
